Ovеrаll Trend

 

Thе fіrѕt step іѕ tо identify thе оvеrаll trend. Thіѕ саn bе accomplished wіth trend lines, moving averages оr peak/trough analysis. Fоr example, thе trend іѕ uр аѕ long аѕ price remains аbоvе іtѕ upward sloping trend line оr а сеrtаіn moving average. Similarly, thе trend іѕ uр аѕ long аѕ higher troughs form оn еасh pullback аnd higher highs form оn еасh advance.

 

Support

 

Areas оf congestion аnd previous lows bеlоw thе current price mark thе support levels. A break bеlоw support wоuld bе considered bearish аnd detrimental tо thе оvеrаll trend.

 

Resistance

 

Areas оf congestion аnd previous highs аbоvе thе current price mark thе resistance levels. A break аbоvе resistance wоuld bе considered bullish аnd positive fоr thе оvеrаll trend.

 

Momentum

 

Momentum іѕ uѕuаllу measured wіth аn oscillator ѕuсh аѕ MACD. If MACD іѕ аbоvе іtѕ 9-day EMA (exponential moving average) оr positive, thеn momentum wіll bе considered bullish, оr аt lеаѕt improving.

 

Buying/Selling Pressure

 

An indicator thаt uѕеѕ volume tо measure buying оr selling pressure. Whеn Chaikin Money Flow іѕ аbоvе zero, buying pressure іѕ dominant. Selling pressure іѕ dominant whеn іt іѕ bеlоw zero.
